Trichologists Advise Swapping Fast Food for Leafy Greens

Hair loss has many possible causes: nutrient deficiencies, stress, illness, hormonal imbalance and certain medications. Genetics play a part too. And diet affects how hair grows.

According to trichologists, greens and eggs can stimulate hair growth, while chips, sugary soda and sushi can make hair fall out.

Leafy greens and eggs are rich in vitamin A, which speeds up hair growth. Fast food is bad for hair. Foods high in fat, salt and sugar can lead to hair loss, to say nothing of other conditions, including liver and heart disease. It’s better to swap candy for berries and french fries for sweet potatoes, which are a source of beta-carotene.

Sushi seems harmless, but not for your hair. The main concern is fish that accumulate mercury: mackerel, marlin, shark, swordfish and bigeye tuna. Mercury reacts with zinc in the body. Zinc helps hair grow, and mercury interferes with that process.
