In April 2026, Green Index tracked prices across more than 18 supermarket chains in 13 Ukrainian cities — from Lviv to Kryvyi Rih. We analysed over 7,300 data points across five categories: microgreens, basil, potted lettuce, salad mix, and fresh herbs. This is the second month of monitoring, so for the first time we can discuss dynamics — comparing April prices with March on a SKU-by-SKU basis.
Who this report is for: shoppers — to buy smarter; city farmers — to understand market benchmarks; retailers and media — to keep a finger on the pulse of Ukraine’s greens market.
The key comparison metric is price per 100 grams. Pack sizes vary considerably across chains, so only the unit price gives a fair comparison.
Microgreens: Where It Is Cheapest and Who Is on the Market
Microgreens remains the most widely represented category: in April 2026 it was tracked across 13 chains. Shelf availability was around 31% of all monitored positions — meaning nearly one in three products in this category was out of stock. This is a figure worth watching.

Price Range: 45 to 242 UAH per 100 g
The price spread in this category is one of the widest across all five monitored categories. The cheapest positions were recorded at WineTime: mustard, sunflower, and broccoli microgreens in 200 g packs came to 45.0–48.5 UAH per 100 g. Large-format packaging is the key factor — the same producer’s 45 g packs in the same chain cost 242 UAH per 100 g.
A stable mid-range benchmark is “Zeleny Chef” (pea, 90 g): 55.4 UAH/100 g at Kosmos, 56.7 UAH/100 g at Tavria V, and 53–65.8 UAH/100 g at Ideal, depending on the variety.
Chain Rankings by Average Price per 100 g (Available Microgreens)
| Chain | Average price, UAH/100 g | Min. | Max. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kosmos | 55.4 | 54.4 | 55.6 |
| Tavria V | 56.7 | 56.7 | 56.7 |
| Ideal | 58.5 | 51.0 | 65.8 |
| Chudo Market | 79.8 | 79.8 | 79.8 |
| Vostorg | 89.2 | 71.4 | 100.0 |
| WineTime | 92.6 | 45.0 | 242.2 |
| Novus | 113.1 | 110.0 | 120.0 |
| Auchan | 113.5 | 105.6 | 120.0 |
| Metro | 121.1 | 71.4 | 247.5 |
| Silpo | 122.2 | 66.0 | 238.0 |
| Ultramarket / MegaMarket / Za Raz | 153.4 | 135.0 | 158.0 |
What to Note
Five of the monitored chains had no available microgreens in April: ATB, EkoMarket, Torba, OnDe, and Epicentre. For some, this category is simply not a priority; for others it may be a logistics issue.
At the top of the price range — “Viola” edible flower microgreens at Metro: 242.3 UAH/100 g. At that level, this is less a greens product and more a specialist item for the restaurant market.
City-farmer tip: the average shelf price for microgreens in mass-market chains (Novus, Auchan, Metro) held at 110–125 UAH/100 g in April. This is the benchmark for retail sales of your own product through comparable channels.
Microgreens: March → April
Comparing 65 identical SKUs present in both months gives a clear picture: 39 positions rose in price, 2 fell, and 24 were unchanged. The average change across shared positions was +7.3 UAH/100 g.
The most notable increase was at Silpo: the “Zeleny Chef” line (pea, mix, sunflower) in 50 g packs rose by 9.0–12.2 UAH/100 g (+9–19%). Auchan raised the price of pea microgreens 50 g by +6.6 UAH/100 g.
The sharp drop in Metro’s average price (from 326 to 121 UAH/100 g) is not a real price fall — it reflects a change in product mix. In March, Metro carried expensive Zelen products (sunflower, onion, and flax sprouts at 350–850 UAH/100 g) that disappeared from shelves in April. Prices on the remaining positions barely changed.
Basil: The Widest Price Spread of All Five Categories
Basil is the category where the market has yet to settle on a standard. Products incomparable in format, quality, and price segment sit side by side — which is precisely why calculating price per 100 g, not per pack, matters here more than anywhere else.

From 35 to 284 UAH per 100 g — in April
The cheapest position in April was Vgusto’s plant product (tomato and basil, 200 g) at Kosmos: 35 UAH/100 g. That said, this is a prepared product rather than pure basil.
Among pure basil, Metro offers the best value: “Fermove” red basil in a 200 g pot at 42.5 UAH/100 g, green “Fermove” 150 g at 49.7 UAH/100 g — the most accessible format for fresh potted basil among large chains.
At the other end of the scale — Kosmos: green basil 50 g at 283.6 UAH/100 g. Novus’s green basil (packaged) — 248 UAH/100 g; WineTime green 50 g — 210 UAH/100 g.
Three Segments of the Basil Market (April 2026)
| Segment | Format | Price, UAH/100 g | Where to find |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | Large pot 150–200 g | 42–50 | Metro (Fermove) |
| Mid-range | Bunch / pot 50–100 g | 105–165 | WineTime, Ultramarket, Novus, Silpo |
| Premium | Small packaged / individual | 186–284 | Auchan, Novus, Kosmos, Silpo |
Notably, basil availability in April was just 44% of monitored positions — one in two products was out of stock at the time of recording. For comparison, potted lettuce fared better: 49%.
Retail insight: the large pot format (150–200 g) gives shoppers a tangible value advantage and does not necessarily cost the store more. Metro uses this format as a price-anchor offer — and comes out looking strong against competitors.
Basil: March → April
Across 34 shared basil SKUs: 15 positions fell in price, 12 rose, and 7 were unchanged. The average change was +6.5 UAH/100 g, though this figure is skewed by a few sharp moves in both directions.
The most notable reductions: Novus — basil in a 50 g pot −20.0 UAH/100 g (−11%); Silpo — basil bunch 50 g −18.0 UAH/100 g (−11%); Auchan — green basil 50 g −11.8 UAH/100 g. Price increases were mainly at Ultramarket, MegaMarket, and Za Raz: +6–7 UAH/100 g on equivalent positions.
Potted Lettuce: The Most Affordable Greens in April
Potted lettuce had the best availability of all five categories: 49% of positions were in stock in April. It also leads on price accessibility.
Who Sets the Lowest Prices

The absolute price leader per 100 g in April was Auchan with Galicia Greenery Duo lettuce in a 250 g pot: 25.0–25.6 UAH/100 g. The 250 g format provides a substantial unit-price advantage.
Metro and Auchan generally stay in a similar range: average across the chain at 52–59 UAH/100 g. Tavria V and Kosmos are also in this corridor (~57.7 UAH/100 g).
Notably more expensive — ATB: the average here was 100.4 UAH/100 g, with a minimum of 87.8 UAH/100 g. The format is comparable to competitors, but the pricing strategy is very different.
Chain Rankings for Potted Lettuce
| Chain | Average price, UAH/100 g | Min. | Max. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auchan | 52.1 | 25.0 | 71.7 |
| Tavria V | 57.7 | 57.7 | 57.7 |
| Kosmos | 57.7 | 57.7 | 57.7 |
| Metro | 59.1 | 26.6 | 71.8 |
| Chudo Market | 59.9 | 54.9 | 74.9 |
| ATB | 100.4 | 87.8 | 109.8 |
Potted Lettuce: March → April
Across 18 shared SKUs: 12 positions rose in price, 3 fell, and 3 were unchanged. The average change was +1.2 UAH/100 g — the smallest of all categories; the market remains stable.
The most notable reduction — Chudo Market: leaf lettuce in a 100 g pot fell by −15.0 UAH/100 g (−20%). ATB also edged down: −7.9 UAH/100 g (−7%). Metro, conversely, raised prices on Galicia Greenery Frize and Lollo Biondo in 100 g pots by +5.2 UAH/100 g each. Kosmos saw the sharpest rise in the category: “Gurman” leaf lettuce +10.5 UAH/100 g (+22%).
Salad Mix: “Zelena Hryadka” Dominates, Wide Price Spread
Salad mix had the lowest availability of all five categories: just 26% of positions were in stock at the time of monitoring. The assortment is concentrated around a few key brands, the most prominent being Zelena Hryadka.
Best-Value Positions

The lowest price per 100 g was at EkoMarket: “Salad Mix Zelena Hryadka Lehkyi Den” 170 g at 32.9 UAH/100 g. The same product at Metro and Vostorg — 40.0 UAH/100 g; at Chudo Market — 38.9 UAH/100 g.
“Spanish Taste” mix (200 g) by Zelena Hryadka — 34.4 UAH/100 g at Chudo Market and 42.0 UAH/100 g at Metro and Vostorg.
Fit&Easy Active salad mix (180 g) — another large-format option: 37.6 UAH/100 g at Tavria V and 38.0 UAH/100 g at Kosmos.
Chain Rankings for Salad Mix
| Chain | Average price, UAH/100 g | Min. | Max. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tavria V | 37.6 | 33.9 | 41.6 |
| Kosmos | 38.0 | 33.9 | 40.8 |
| EkoMarket | 44.3 | 29.4 | 66.6 |
| Chudo Market | 49.2 | 33.8 | 69.9 |
| Vostorg | 50.0 | 31.2 | 79.0 |
| Metro | 50.0 | 31.2 | 79.0 |
| Auchan | 67.9 | 67.9 | 67.9 |
| Silpo | 72.4 | 24.0 | 110.0 |
Practical takeaway: larger pack sizes (170–200 g) give a unit-price advantage of 15–25% compared with compact packs of the same brands. The only caveat is shelf life.
Salad Mix: March → April
Across 17 shared SKUs — an unusual picture for April: 9 positions fell in price, 5 rose, and 3 were unchanged. The average change was −2.1 UAH/100 g. This is the only category where April turned out cheaper than March on a direct comparison basis.
The largest drop — at Silpo: “Microgreen Mix Salad Sprouts” 125 g fell by −18.2 UAH/100 g (−34%). Metro and Vostorg: “Rocket-spinach with mustard dressing” 105 g — −11.0 UAH/100 g (−14%). At the same time, “Salad Mix Zelena Hryadka Lehkyi Den” 170 g at those same chains rose by +6.4 UAH/100 g (+19%) — meaning different products within the same brand moved in opposite directions.
Fresh Herbs: Mint, Coriander, and Dill — Where and at What Price
Fresh herbs is the most format-diverse category: it includes bunches of cut herbs, living pot plants, and packaged produce. Availability in April 2026 was 45%. The most frequently monitored items were parsley, dill, coriander, and mint.
Where Is It Cheapest

Silpo showed the lowest average price in the category: 58.5 UAH/100 g on average, with mint in a 200 g pot at 58.5 UAH/100 g. WineTime’s same mint format (200 g) came to 52.5 UAH/100 g — the lowest price for this item across all monitored chains.
Parsley bunches (30 g) and dill (70 g) at ATB came to 73.0–74.1 UAH/100 g — a moderate level for cut herbs sold in bunches.
Coriander in 50–100 g bunches is available in most chains. The price per 100 g ranges from 79.8 UAH (Ideal) to 99.8 UAH (EkoMarket). Metro and Vostorg offer coriander in 1 kg quantities at 99.7 UAH/100 g — a bulk-purchase format.

On the other side — Metro reduced the price of “Fermove” mint in a 100 g pot: −8.3 UAH/100 g (−10%).
Summary: What April Tells Us About the Market
April is the first month in which Green Index can speak about dynamics rather than snapshots alone. And those dynamics are uneven: the market is not moving in a single direction.
Price growth dominates. In three of five categories, the majority of shared SKUs rose in price: microgreens (+7.3 UAH/100 g on average across shared positions), fresh herbs (+6.2 UAH/100 g), and basil (+6.5 UAH/100 g). The exceptions are salad mix — where April was cheaper (−2.1 UAH/100 g) — and potted lettuce, where the change was minimal (+1.2 UAH/100 g).
Larger packs are always better value. Across all five categories, packs of 150–200 g deliver a unit price 1.5–3× lower than compact equivalents of the same brands. The only constraint is shelf life.
Price leaders differ by category. Cheapest microgreens — at Kosmos and Tavria V. Best-value basil — at Metro. Potted lettuce — at Auchan. Salad mix — at Tavria V and Kosmos. Fresh herbs — at Silpo and WineTime. No single chain wins across all categories simultaneously.
Availability is a serious problem. Only 26–49% of positions across the different categories were in stock at the time of recording. Particularly critical — microgreens (31%) and salad mix (26%). This is a signal for both retailers and suppliers.
13 cities under monitoring — from Lviv to Kryvyi Rih, from Rivne to Zaporizhzhia. Regional price differences exist, but are considerably smaller than the differences between pack formats within a single city.
