Area 2 Farms Raises $9M for a Network of Local Indoor Farms

Area 2 Farms has raised $9 million in investment to scale a model of local mini-farms that position production closer to consumers. These facilities focus on soil-based indoor farming and supply supermarkets and restaurants with fresh produce requiring minimal logistics.

The model reduces time from harvest to shelf and lowers transportation costs. For large supply networks this architecture offers clear advantages: lower capital expenditure per unit of product and flexibility in the product mix — various microgreen varieties, salads, and a small quantity of root vegetables.
